Screwtape Chronicles

It Starts.

Posted by Ryan

I am less than twenty four hours away from New York City.  Of course, I won't be living in NYC just yet… I'm just visiting for New Year's.  And then I'll, you know, go on vacation for a month.

Part of me regrets this decision, since it kind of feels like a delay tactic.  I'm kind of ready to just get started, however, I'm trying to teach myself that nothing is going to happen overnight, so that is the attitude that I am going to have over the next few months.  As for the trip, I'm going to visit Seattle and Houston, as well as taking a "real" vacation to Hawaii.  Hawaii should be fun, as I am going to take a helicopter ride, learn how to surf, and visit Pearl Harbor.  Visiting Pearl Harbor won't exactly be "fun," but I think it's an important place to go.  But mostly, the trip will be fun.  And if I can get some writing done during my down time in Seattle and Houston, then the whole thing will be well worth it.

Because that's the thing that really bothers me about all of this… I'm going to NYC with no really good material already in the bank.  I've put myself in the position where I must both support myself and somehow create good plays at the same time.  Everyone else is pretty much in this position, though, so I figure I've got a shot at making it work.

For now, though, I have no home.  And so.  It starts.  We'll see how it goes.
